Reopening the Botanic Garden

There will be different entrances and exits to prevent overcrowding at the gates:

  • From Hills Road, entrance will be via the usual gate. Exit will be via the Hills Road service gate (further down Hills Road set into the new fence).

  • From Trumpington Road, entrance will be via the usual gate. Exit will be via the Brookside Bike Park.

A queuing system will be in place at the gates to minimise the need for person-to-person interaction and to maintain a safe flow of people coming into the Garden.

Accessibility

If you would like advice or information about visiting the Garden with special access requirements, please contact Wendy Godfrey on 01223 336265 or email enquiries@botanic.cam.ac.uk.

Physical Access
All areas of the Garden are either level or sloping. Path surfaces are mostly gravel. There is step-free access to all areas, including the Glasshouses, Shop and Café. Seating is available throughout the Garden.

Electric scooters and manual wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge from both the Brookside and Station Road Gates.

Hearing Impairments
Induction loops:
An induction loop is available at the Brookside Gate entrance.

Acoustics:
The Garden is quiet and peaceful. It can get rather noisy in the Café at busy times.

Assistance Dogs
Registered assistance dogs are very welcome.

Disabled parking
Parking is very limited. There are some Pay and Display and designated disabled bays on Trumpington Street. The Trumpington Park and Ride bus service drops off right at the Brookside Gate. There is no easy place to park or drop off at the Station Road Gate.

Changing Places Toilet
The closest Changing Places toilet is located in the Grand Arcade car park. Locate more Changing Places toilets in Cambridge.

From 2 January 2021, Cambridge University Botanic Garden will be open to provide a green space for walking and wellbeing in the city. To visit the Garden, you must purchase a ticket online: https://www.botanic.cam.ac.uk/purchase-tickets/
