A Studio Sunday Special for families with a child about to start school. Siblings welcome!

Join us in our Clore Learning Studio for a free, practical art making workshop exploring ideas about starting school. Respond to the House and exhibitions to make your own artworks and gather new suggestions to help your family prepare together for starting school. No previous art experience needed!

This special workshop for 2-5 year olds is inspired by the wonderful book “Bumblebear” by Nadia Shireen, a story about a bear who loves honey so much he pretends to be a bee. Join us for this parent and child workshop as we dress up, dance and act out this fabulous story.

Please dress in warm and comfortable clothes (grown-ups too!) so we can move around comfortably and be prepared for all weathers.

Please book child places only.  Accompanying adults will be required to pay normal Garden admission on the day.

Join this art-based session and learn how watercolour pens can be used to create all sorts of great effects.

Learn how to use tools and other objects to make surface texture and decoration in creating a clay house to take home.

Try your hand at the fun craft of tie dye.  A t-shirt will be provided for you, or bring something along, like leggings, instead.

Be inspired by the Lego buildings featured in the Museum's latest exhibition and create your own townscape made using lots of different paper.

Get ready to roar like a lion and move like a giraffe as we go on safari around the Museum of Zoology, then hear stories and make a finger puppet to take home with you.

Suitable for children aged 2-5. All children must be accomanied by an adult.

Did you know that museum collections can act as time machines, showing us what wildlife was like in the past and helping us to protect it today. Join us and our brilliant actors from Emergency Exit Arts as we explore butterflies past and present with fun family-friendly activities.

Make a magic memory in miniature with your family.

Construct your own mini world of lockdown memories by crafting a time-capsule room in a shoe-box!

For those who are isolating or vulnerable, online versions of the workshops are available. Please email sarah.hutton@museumofcambridge.org.uk for further details.

This event is part of Remembering Covid-19: Time Capsule Project at the Museum of Cambridge
