Information
Artist Kaitlin Ferguson shows you how to make your own crafts at home inspired by the Hoatzin Bird at the Museum of Zoology.
The activities have been designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities, who usually find visiting museums overwhelming due to conditions that affect their sensory processing and/or have a developmental disability. They can do the activities at their own pace.
There are two different makes that you can try depending on how much time you have.
- Make One (Instant Make): Hoatzin Bird Bunting
- Make Two (Longer Make): Hoatzin Bird Zine
For this activity you will need:
- The template
- A3/A4 paper
- A pencil
- Colouring pencils or pens
- Scissors
- Tape
- Some string/or old shoelace
Try drawing your own bird or you can download and print our PDF template.

We would also love to be emailed any photos of anything you make! Send your designs to: info@museums.cam.ac.uk
