A 'hunky punk' is a regional name for a grotesque. Very much like a gargoyle, grotesques are ugly little creatures usually found on the outside of churches. They are often seen pulling faces with wide gaping mouths.

Follow this craft film that takes inspiration from a 14th century stone carved grotesque from Tydd St. Giles, Cambridgeshire, that is part of the Wisbech & Fenland Museum collection.
