The Whipple Museum has a fantastic collection of tuning forks.

Tuning forks not only make a sound, they also are used to keep instruments in tune.

Have a go at making your own instrument, a shaker, with our fun activity.

To make your own shaker you will need:

  • Two elastic bands
  • A small handful of dried pasta
  • The inside of a kitchen roll tube (we painted and dried ours before)
  • Two small pieces of paper (10cm x10 cm)
  • Stickers to decorate.

Thank you very much to our lovely volunteer Clare for this activity sheet!
