We invite families with children who have additional sensory needs to join us for our Studio Sunday Relaxed Session. These quieter art making workshops aim to provide a comfortable creative experience at Kettle’s Yard.

In our Clore Learning Studio, participants can make art inspired by artworks and ideas at Kettle’s Yard, supported by artists and volunteers. No prior art experience is required.

Activities are designed for children ages 3–11 and we encourage parents and carers to create alongside their child.

The sessions are designed with early years development in mind. Artists draw upon their expertise as early years facilitators and use the Kettle’s Yard ethos and collection to create sessions where babies, toddlers and their carers can experience and learn together.

The activities help children explore the world around them, discover processes and play with new materials through creating new worlds, stories and adventures. Creation and communication are encouraged through making and there is a rich environment for play and enjoyment.

Unlock your creativity at our free, artist-led workshops for families in the Clore Learning Studio.

Get hands-on with creative activities inspired by artworks and ideas at Kettle’s Yard.

No art experience needed — our friendly artists and volunteers will support you step-by-step. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to participate but Studio Sunday is most suitable for children between 3–11 years.

See if you can spot the forgeries in our new exhibition, "The Art of Deception", all about making fake scientific instruments. Take the quiz, then head to the learning gallery for a chance to handle replica instruments (not fakes because we're being honest about them!). Explore illustrations used by instrument forger Lloyd Evan Williams and see if you can use them to create your own convincing designs.

This is a drop in event, there will be a short talk about the handling objects at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm but you are welcome to arrive or leave at any time.

Drop in for some fun with us, investigating fascinating igneous rocks from Greenland. The rocks contain rare earth elements, which are important components of electric vehicles, wind turbines and devices such as mobile phones and laptops.

Handle these rocks that have been collected by researchers from the Department of Earth Sciences, and see the rocks glow and sparkle under UV light. Get stuck into some sweet-squashing fun as we use sweets to investigate how different rock types are formed.

Follow the trail, solve the puzzles and head to either shop to claim your prize. Trail booklets cost £1, payable at the entrance.

Recommended for ages 3+. Normal Garden admission charge for accompanying adults.

Drop-in runs 10am-12pm. All welcome, especially suitable for families with babies and young children.

This month we will be based in Gallery 33, our Arts of the Near East Gallery, with breakout activities in the Glashier gallery (Gallery 27) next door.

No need to book, just drop in!

Space to park prams is available at the Courtyard Entrance.

We look forward to seeing you.

Join us for an afternoon of hands-on family fun as we explore the fascinating world of Roman portraits. Discover how Romans showed their status, style and personality through art and create your own Roman portrait to take home.

Follow a special Roman trail through the museum to uncover hidden stories among our sculptures, design and decorate your own Roman armour, and imagine life in ancient Rome.

This is a Cambridge Festival event.

Visit the Museum to discover more about our collections, how they are cared for and chat to us about some of the research that we are involved in.

Everyone welcome. FREE.
