Join us in our Clore Learning Studio for free, practical art making workshops. Respond to the displays and exhibitions to make your own artworks. Get creative with artists and our education volunteers, no previous art experience needed!

Activities are for all but most suitable for children between 3 and 11 years. We like to encourage parents/carers to create alongside their child.

Early Years Studio is a fun, creative, immersive experience for children aged 0–4. The sessions are designed with early years development in mind. Artists draw upon their expertise as early years facilitators and use the Kettle’s Yard ethos and collection to create sessions where babies, toddlers and their carers can experience and learn together.

***Fully booked***

We look forward to welcoming you to the Sedgwick Museum for a relaxed morning exclusively aimed at children with sensory sensitivities along with their families, siblings & carers. During this time, the museum will be open exclusively for families with children with sensory sensitivities. This event is aimed at children with special educational needs who usually find visiting museums overwhelming due to conditions that affect their sensory processing and/or have a developmental disability.

Join us at the Museum as we discover and celebrate urban animals at this family activity day. Lots of craft activities going on in the Museum, plus a chance to add your own creative artwork to our Zoology Garden! We will be joined by The Wildlife Trust and the RSPB to celebrate our urban wildlife, plus we'll be exploring the urban wildlife that Cambridge has to offer by leading some walks around the city.

Most of the activities will be at the Museum of Zoology - open 10am to 4.30pm. Entry to the Museum is FREE, all activities will be FREE.

Explore big ideas about climate by thinking small. Micro-climates exist in every habitat, from a shady spot under a tree to a warm flower facing the sun. Discover how butterflies cope with a changing climate and create your own to add to our micro-habitat display.

Drop-in, no need to book

All ages welcome

The history of science is full of examples of people creating models, machines and devices to make calculations easier. Explore some of the maths and measuring objects from our handling collection, from the abacus to the pocket calculator, and see if you can use them to solve real-life puzzles and problems. Can you create or design your own mathematical machine?

Visit the Museum to see our amazing nature inspired ceramics created by local primary school children. We have been working across the winter with three local primary schools and a ceramic artist, Louise Beale. As part of The Wild Escape project from The Art Fund, we asked children from three local schools to create a clay sculpture related to British wildlife - the results are now all on display in the Museum. Each carefully crafted sculpture has it's own conservation message, devised and drawn onto flags by the children.

Celebrate Earth Day at the Museum - see our new installation ‘Helping Nature Help Us’ created by pupils from the Grove Primary in Cambridge, Lionel Walden Primary in Doddington and Nelson Academy in Downham Market working with ceramics artist Louise Beale.

Make your own animal sculpture with Louise in workshops taking place throughout the day, discover local wildlife with hands on activities throughout the Museum, and make your pledge for nature.
