Harold Offeh’s Reading the Realness is a spoken-word performance based around a conversation that occurred on the American talk show The Real involving activist Rachel Dolezal. Dolezal came to public attention when she was controversially ‘outed’ for being trans-racial and living as an African-American woman. Offeh’s performance adopts the form of a script reading workshop featuring participants from a range of backgrounds.
After the performance Offeh will host an open discussion via video-link to explore some of the themes arising from Reading the Realness.

About Harold Offeh
Harold Offeh (b.1977, Accra, Ghana) works in a range of media including performance, video, photography, learning, and social arts practice, often employing humour as a means to confront the viewer with an assessment of contemporary culture. Offeh studied at the University of Brighton and the Royal College of Art, London.
He has shown widely both in the UK and internationally including ‘East International’, Norwich; ‘Ghosting’, Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth; ‘At Your Service’, David Roberts Art Foundation, London; ‘Espaço Bananeiras’, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and ‘Metropolis Rise’, CQL Design Center, Shanghai, China.

The Clore Learning Studio is fully accessible. It can be reached by stairs or by lift, to the basement -1 floor. There is an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities in the basement beside the Learning Studio. There are more toilets and facilities on the ground and first floors.
