About Quartetto Noûs

Formed in 2011, Quartetto Noûs takes its name from the Greek word Noûs, meaning ‘mind’, as well as ‘inspiration’ and ‘creativity’. The ensemble trained in Cremona, Basel, Madrid, Siena and Lübeck, studying with the Quartetto di Cremona and members of the Hagen, Alban Berg and Artemis quartets.
Winner of the Piero Farulli Prize for the best emerging chamber music group in 2015, the quartet is known for its versatility and original interpretations. Its interest in contemporary music has led to collaborations with composers, theatre and dance companies, alongside experiments with concert formats, including performing from memory in complete darkness.
The quartet performs internationally across Europe, Asia and North America, with appearances at Milan’s La Scala, the Ravenna Festival and Settimane Musicali in Stresa. Collaborators include Tommaso Lonquich, Andrea Lucchesini, Bruno Canino and Boris Petrushansky. The ensemble was also quartet in residence at Festival Ticino Musica in Lugano in 2013 and 2017.
Quartetto Noûs has recorded for Brilliant Classics, Tactus, DaVinci Edition and Warner Classics. Between 2021 and 2024, it recorded the complete Shostakovich string quartets for Brilliant Classics. Its performances have been broadcast by RAI Radio 3, Venice Classic Radio, Radio Clásica and RSI.
The concert starts at 8pm. Doors open at 7.30pm.
