Programme
As part of this event artist Paul Kindersley and a carnivalesque troupe of performers will perform Ship of Fools, a play written by Kindersley and inspired by a painting by Dutch artist Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516). The performance will last 30 minutes and will take place amongst Kindersley’s installation of handprinted drapery in the gallery.
Caroline Wendling’s new performative walk, Habit{Ing, will take place in the House at Kettle’s Yard. Wendling has created a new evocative and sensory communal experience around the idea of inhabitation, habit, the human presence and the everyday that will take visitors on a journey through the domestic spaces of the House.
As Wendling’s work takes places in the House, numbers are limited.
Please book a place at the information desk when you arrive, and leave your bags and coats in the cloakroom before the start of the performance.

About The Cambridge Show
‘The Cambridge Show’ brings together work by twenty-two artists who live or work in and around Cambridge. Showcasing a cross-section of the artistic community operating in the local area, from photography to performance, the exhibition will explore these artists’ diverse practices, and some of the themes and issues that they are engaging with right now.
About Paul Kindersley
Paul Kindersley (b.1985, Cambridge) has exhibited and performed extensively at venues across the UK and Europe. He was recently commissioned by Charleston, home of the Bloomsbury Group, to produce a major film work inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. Other recent solo exhibitions include: ‘Ship of Fools’, SKIP Gallery, Selfridges, London (2019); ‘Fake Fairy Fantasies’, Belmacz, London (2018); ‘Narrator, Relator & Stimulator’, Belmacz, London (2017); ‘#TheBritishAreCumming’, Kunstschlager, Reykjavik (2014); and ‘#ExtremeDreamMakeover’, Nottingham Contemporary.
About Caroline Wendling
Caroline Wendling’s (b.1961, Lorraine, France) work explores ideas of place and belonging. Since 2011 she has developed work inspired by walking, in the form of drawing, print, performances, and participatory events. Wendling studied at the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg, France and at Edinburgh College of Art.
Access
The House is not fully accessible and Caroline Wendling’s tour includes climbing the spiral staircase in the cottage as well as crossing several other stepped levels. The extension to the House is fully accessible and we are happy to accommodate all visitors wishing to join the section of Wendling’s performance that takes place in this area. The galleries and Education Wing are fully accessible. There is a ramp from the entrance area to the ground floor galleries. There is an accessible toilet located on the ground floor, just in front of the lift.
