Event information
Lesley Burr is one of the eight artists featured in the Polar Museum's Painting the Poles temporary exhibition. In 2019 she was appointed the Friends of the Scott Polar Research Institute Artist in Residence and went on a journey to the Arctic.
This free talk will introduce her personal connection to and fascination with "The North"—its light, landscape, and remote places like the Scottish islands.
"The Arctic residency was a life-changing experience and a catalyst for new ideas, focusing on the interrelationships between people, nature, and the natural environment. The development of the artwork is documented through sketches, photography, painting, and printmaking, and it reflects the range of subject matter that absorbed me while seeing and experiencing Arctic nature and landscape first-hand."
Lesley will share her experiences in this 40 minute talk, aimed at a non-academic audience, followed by time for questions and conversation. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Space is limited, please reserve a ticket using the link above.
