At this Disability Friendly Opening, the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology will be open exclusively for families with children with sensory sensitivities. This event is aimed at children with special educational needs who usually find visiting museums overwhelming due to conditions that affect their sensory processing and/or have a developmental disability.
We will be ensuring a quieter environment at the Museum so that you and your family can explore comfortably. There are very limited spaces to keep the museums from feeling too overwhelming. We will turn off any sounds and will control the lighting as best we can. We provide a chill-out space with sensory lighting if your child needs a break.
About the museum:
Encounter two million years of human history at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, from Cambridge's roman roots to contemporary Pacific sculptures and everything in between.
Plus, join artist Charlotte Bill for a stop frame animation activity bringing your museum visit to life.
This event is free to attend but booking is required. Please book places for any family members that will be attending too.
Prior to the event you’ll be sent out a visual story.
If you have any questions about the session, please email: info@museums.cam.ac.uk
We look forward to welcoming you to the museum.
