Programme
Sophie Westbrooke explores Recorders across centuries: virtuosity from Medieval Europe to Present Day Japan, including works by Castello and Yoshimini.
About Sophie Westbrooke
Sophie is in her second year reading Music at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. She has been studying the recorder with Anna Stegmann at the Royal Academy of Music in London as part of the CAMRAM scheme. She also currently holds an instrumental award on the violin.
Sophie is part of the London-based recorder trio Parandrus, also featuring Daniel Swani and Charlotte Barbour-Condini (BBC Young Musician Concerto Finalist 2012). The trio were the winners of 2017 ORDA professional consort competition Amsterdam.
In 2014, Sophie won the woodwind category of the BBC Young Musician competition on recorder. She went on to reach the concerto final, broadcast live by BBC TV from Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, where she performed with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kirill Karabits.
Sophie aims to further the professionalisation of the recorder and expand appreciation of its versatility and unique beauty through performance of a wide range of repertoire from the medieval to the modern day.
Sophie can currently be heard performing the title music on the BBC TV series “The Clangers”.

No food or drink are allowed in the House.
Visitors are invited to sit at the library table in the House at Kettle’s Yard and browse the books, however this is not a lending library.

We welcome artists but only pencils and pads/books size A3 or smaller can enter the House. No wet materials (including pens) or chalks are allowed.
Children who will be carried do not need a ticket. Please note that the House is not suitable for buggies.
