November’s Saturday opening is all about maps, as we host the University’s Dr Sara Caputo for a very special exploration in partnership with the Being Human Festival. Explore the fascinating history of a device we often take for granted, and discover new ways of visualizing our place in the world.
What’s on?
- From 10am, follow your own pathway around the museum with a new trail (available all day)
- 11am and 2pm, talks by Dr Sara Caputo
- 11am and 2pm, map drawing workshop for families and children
This event is aimed at adults and families with children (age 4+).
About Sara Caputo
Dr. Sara Caputo is a specialist in maritime and eighteenth and nineteenth century history with a number of published works. Her latest book, Tracks on the Ocean, uncovers a hidden history of the modern world through the trails left on maps and seas. Spanning from ancient Greek itineraries to 21st-century digital mapping, Caputo reveals how these marks have shaped the course of modernity.
